Rebidding of
the Ballston Lake Sewer Project Complete
Five bid openings were held on different days at the Town of Ballston Town Hall in the
Meeting Room for the Ballston Lake Sewer
District Project. This is the second
time the project has gone out to bid.
The first time was in April 2019 and lowest bid came back 6 million dollars
short including grant money.
The project was divided into five sections cutting
services like traffic control and paving among many other adjustments and five
contracts went out to bid. The rebidding still came back over the original
project cost. The light at the end of the tunnel for the Ballston Lake Sewer
Project is they have also applied for another grant which if approved would
bring funding up to 17.5 million dollars. This time the lowest cumulative bids came up with
alternates roughly at 14.2 million which is still over without any additional
funding. Project engineer stated they
would be in good shape if the additional grant came in that they applied for.
BID RESULTS:
Grants should be used to lower the cost for homeowners, not to justify an overbidded project. As over as this is, it should go out for a revote among the homeowners.
